Rangers or Ranger Recruits in Wasteland 3 are characters that players can add to their squad. Rangers can be hired by speaking to certain NPCs such as Sergei Greatski (Sgt. Greatski) of the Patriarch's Marshals faction in Colorado Springs. When you check Ranger HQ, you'll see that some are "pre-made" rangers which means that each ranger shown in the list is already equipped with their starting gear and has different individual stats, however, you can "create" your own ranger just like in the Character Creation sequence where you can personally build your ranger's appearance and stats according to your preference. This page covers a list of all the pre-made rangers in the game.
Recruiting Rangers
- Rangers are recruited or created by the player by checking the Ranger HQ which can be done by speaking to NPCs such as Sergei Greatski (Sgt. Greatski) of the Patriarch's Marshals faction in Colorado Springs.
- Your squad consists of up to a maximum of 6 active party members which includes a maximum of up to 4 or a minimum of 2 Rangers, while the other 2 slots are reserved for Companions. Companions aren't officially rangers and are special NPCs that you'll meet along the way.
- Rangers also level up which you can upgrade their Stats such as their Attributes, Skills, Perks, and more.
Managing Rangers
- Players can manage their party from the Escape menu (Manage Party) or at your base by talking to an NPC. Rangers can be "Removed" from the active party and they'll be added to the "Reserve" list. Just remember, that if you choose to "Discharge" a ranger, you are permanently removing them from your party and that they'll be gone and cannot be recruited for the second time.
